The GoodHearts Foundation offers the following services and programs:

MedicAlert Bracelets

Every University of Alberta Hospital transplant patients who has never registered with the MedicAlert Foundation of Canada is eligible to apply for a MedicAlert bracelet.

To enrol just call MedicAlert at 1.855.581.3797 — Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST — and quote the GoodHearts offer code: GH11N.

GoodHearts covers the cost of the basic MedicAlert bracelet, the registration and first year membership costs for MedicAlert and GoodHearts. The MedicAlert and GoodHearts membership renewals for subsequent years are left up to each individual.


YMCA Membership Subsidy

The subsidy is provided to organ recipient who are members of the GoodHearts Foundation to encourage them to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The subsidy is available in conjunction with the YMCA’s Health and Wellness program and can be accessed anywhere the YMCA provides their program.


Dr. Dennis Modry Bursary

The Dr. Dennis Modry Bursary was established to honour the Edmonton surgeon who established the Heart/Lung Transplant Program in 1986.

The bursary is awarded annually and applications are accepted from May 1 to August 31.

To be eligible for the bursary you must be a transplant patient, live donor, or an immediate family member of a transplant patient or living donor. You must attend an approved post-secondary institution, such as university, college, trade school, or technical institute. Private institutions are also eligible if they are licenced within the province in which they operate.
